Hi lovelies! Today I'm here with a review of one of my favourite new lipsticks and I also thought that seeing as we're coming up to Valentines Day that I would give one of these lippies away to a lucky winner as it's the perfect shade of flirty pink for getting some lovin!
The lippy in question is by Illamasqua, a brand that if you are a regular reader you will know is one of my favourites at the moment. Prior to this lipstick I had only ever tried their lashes, loose pigments and the famous hydra veil. I can't believe it took me so long to make a lippy purchase considering the amazing range of bold, unique colours that Illamasqua offer.
Seeing as I'm on my usual pink kick for Spring (or at least wishing Spring would hurry up and get here) I decided to try the shade Immodest which I had read positive reviews of on quite a few blogs and I knew was a blue-toned pink - blue-toned colours work nicely with my pale skin and bring out the colour of my eyes as well as having that magical power of making your teeth look a little whiter.
The colour pay off of this lipstick is pretty amazing, with just one good sweep giving you a full cover of highly pigmented colour - as well as making it super quick to apply this means you don't have to use as much so it last longer than other lipsticks where you need a few passes to get the amount of colour you need. It is also a really long lasting lipstick, it lasted about 5 hours for me without having to re-apply and then that was only because I had eaten lunch.
One thing to be aware of is that this is a true matte lipstick so if you have dry or cracked lips it will stick to those areas and make them really obvious. This is a quick fix though, to ensure my lips are smooth and lippy ready I just use a bit of my homemade lip scrub (recipe here!) and apply a really thin layer of moisturising lip balm, giving it a few minutes to sink in before applying the lipstick itself.
Some people have commented that they find Illamasqua lipsticks too solid and a little hard to apply but I must say I didn't find that to be the case. After doing my initial swatch on the back of my hand which removed the perfect polished brand new lippy surface it applied to my lips just fine and I didn't struggle getting the colour off the bullet at all. Oh, and the glossy black Illamasqua packaging is super sexy too!
I will most definitely be buying more shades from Illamasqua's range and am very excited to visit the flagship store in a few weeks when I take my lil sis to London for her 21st - I just wish I could afford for us both to do one of the make-up classes while we're there!
